Who is Carrol Boyes?
Carrol Boyes is a South African designer who decided to pursue her childhood dream after 11 years of teaching in Cape Town.
Carrol Boyes Functional Art was created in 1989. In 1993 Carol received her first international order. A spirited venture into retail saw the launch of first Carrol Boyes Flagship store in 2003, at the Waterfront, in Cape Town to be followed a year later by Brooklyn Mall, Pretoria and the premier international Flagship Store in SoHo, New York.
Carrol, an honours graduate in sculpture from Pretoria University, is now one of the most renowned artists in South Africa.
Her love of and for South Africa is boundless and evident in her work; the beautiful crucifix presented to Nobel Laureat, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, on behalf of the Tygerberg Children's Hospital; the work space at company headquarters donated to Monkeybiz, a non-profit organisation providing employment to the women in the townships who bead amazing creations distributed worldwide; a well-being and healthcare centre for employees to seek professional advice and counselling on health related issues.
Carrol continues the role of mentor, nurturing talent and teaching skills to those around her. She promises to guide a select team of South African talent to continue the success of the company into the future.

The Carrol Boyes Collection comprises a dynamic range of 2000 exclusive life-style products - unusual cutlery, flatware, tableware, a large selection of gift items homeware and furniture.
Lead free pewter, with its soft and malleable qualities, is easily crafted into unique and aesthetically pleasing creations for everyday use in the home. These eclectic pieces are timeless and limited editions prove popular with collectors worldwide.
Alluminium provideds a beautiful alternative to stainless steel and pewter when designing larger items. This light, strong and durable metal is perfect for large bowls, lamps, sculptural vases and furniture.
The highly polished and innate strength of high grade stainless steel, 18 parts chrome and 10 parts nickel, ensures long lasting appeal in the Carrol Boyes 18/8 product range. Tarnish proof, 100% recyclable and dishwasher safe, it enables you to enjoy contemporary design and quality everyday.
The leather collection offers a sense of style and luxury. The genuine leather is guaranteed to be of the best quality, ecologically sensitive and processed in an environmentally friendly tannery.
Design and Production
Carrol creates the initial design of all products from her Cape Town studio, after which manufacture takes place in her own factory, in the tropical Lowveld of the Limpopo Province. Carrol Boyes is a major employer in the region.
The Carrol Boyes team is composed of a colourful and talented group of people; a myriad of ethnic cultures, inspired by all things African. They delight in bringing you Carrol's unique and cherished sculptures, styled and crafted in a fusion of metals, to use, grace and adorn your home, dinner table and surroundings.
More than 300 craftsmen and women work at this factory where every piece is handmade and unique. Each piece is carefully checked to meet stringent quality standards. The imperfections you may notice are the signature of handmade quality work, which add to the uniqueness of each item.
Once finished the products are shipped to Cape Town for final quality assurance. Each piece is then hand polished before being packed. All orders are dispatched from Cape Town.
